Hi Justin,

Thanks for your response.

When I try first.last, I
get the same response as all other attempts, it sits there for about 5
minutes and then says:

 	* Configuration could not be verified - is
the username or password wrong?

The password is definitely not wrong as
I can login via roundcube.
I've been trouble-shooting this further, and
checking /var/log/messages I saw:

 	* Mar 3 22:50:48 server
imap[8813]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: No such file or
directory

So I created the file using saslpasswd2, with the first.last
account, this created the file but then I got:

 	* Mar 3 22:57:15
server imaps[1849]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: Permission
denied

So made the file 644, which worked and the error went away.

Then trying from the client again, the error I get in /var/log/maillog
is:

Mar 3 23:06:37 server imap[1872]: accepted connection
Mar 3
23:06:37 server master[2193]: about to exec
/usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/imapd

parameters

Mar 3 23:08:18 server imap[1872]: EOF in SSL_accept() -> fail

Mar 3 23:08:18 server imap[2178]:

Mar 3 23:09:30 server master[1774]: process 1872 exited, status

Mar 3 23:09:59 server imap[2178]: EOF in SSL_accept() -> fail
Mar 3
23:09:59 server imap[2178]: STARTTLS negotiation failed:

Mar 3 23:09:59 server imap[1867]:
accepted connection
Mar 3 23:09:59 server imap[1867]: imapd:Loading
hard-coded DH parameters
Mar 3 23:09:59 server imap[1867]: SSL_accept()
incomplete -> wait

and continues like that for about 5 minutes. The
Thunderbird client uses the connection:

IMAP: kolab.server.tld port 143
STARTTLS Normal password
SMTP: kolab.server.tld port 587 STARTTLS
Normal password
Username: first.last
I've also tried non-SSL and it
errors much quicker (1 second) with just:

 	* Mar 3 23:17:08 server
imap[2212]: accepted connection

showing and nothing else.
When I try:

IMAP: kolab.server.tld port 143 SSL/TLS Normal password
SMTP:
kolab.server.tld port 587 SSL/TLS Normal password
Username: first.last

I get:

Mar 3 23:19:27 server imaps[1858]: EOF in SSL_accept() ->
fail
Mar 3 23:19:27 server imaps[1858]: imaps TLS negotiation failed:
client.example.tld [xx.xx.xx.xx]
Mar 3 23:19:27 server imaps[1858]:
Fatal error: tls_start_servertls() failed
Mar 3 23:19:27 server
master[1774]: process 1858 exited, status 75
Mar 3 23:19:27 server
master[1774]: service imaps pid 1858 in BUSY state: terminated
abnormally

Does it matter that I left the
/etc/pki/cyrus-imapd/cyrus-imapd.pem certificate the "localhost"
default?

Nothing works, just keeps saying my username or password is wrong.
