Users default email address

Hi,

When I create a new user, I'd like his email address to be something 
other than first.last at example.com.

Our normal policy has been initial plus last name, so Bob Marley would 
be bmarley at example.com.

I can do it easily with secondary addresses, but then the address list 
shows the wrong email.

I set admin_auto_fields_rw to true, so I could put in my own address, 
but then the webmail says there are no email folders.

Is it possible to use the Initials field as the name for the primary 
email address?
