primary_mail with initials

Hi all,

I'm new to Kolab and I'm starting to learn it little by little.

I know that /etc/kolab/kolab.conf holds a lot of configuration 
parameters, including the primary_mail directive for setting the primary 
email address expresssion.

However I'm not able to set it to just use the first letter of my 
"givenname", e.g.:
givenname = Marco
surname = Zanon
primary_mail -> m.zanon at ...
I can do that for the secondary_mail parameter, but not for the 
primary_mail. Which Python expression do I have to use?
I tried with %(givenname)s[0:1].%(surname)s@%(domain)s or similar ones, 
but with no luck.
