hide/disable non-Mail folders in imap-clients?

I can’t get it to work at all in the moment. My cyrus is SSL-only, maybe the imaproxy can’t handle this setup?
Apple mail does something on the server upon the first connection:

This messages run through several times (3?) and afterwards apple mail tells me "The server returned the error: The connection to the server “domain.” on port 9993 timed out.”
Any ideas?
