CardDAV + Thunderbird

Resurrecting an old email thread, but I haven't seen anything on this
recently.
Is there anything better than the SoGo connector for CARDDAV? I have
the following issues with using it in Thunderbird:
1. In the contact list, in the "Name" field: For most contacts the
"name" is the username portion of their email address (minus the @domain
portion). If the contact doesn't have an email address, then that field
is blank. However, when I edit the contact, all information is there.
2. There is a field in Thunderbird called "Display". When that is
populated, it shows up in the Name field on the list. I can't tell how
that gets populated automatically, though...some entries have it and
some don't after a sync. The Thunderbird Display field does not seem to
map into the Kolab "Display Name" field available via Roundcube, but if
I add a "Display Name" field in Kolab, it appears there.
3. Email field handling is inconsistent. Sometimes the home email (on
Kolab) ends up as "Additional Email" on Thunderbird, but in other cases
it ends up in the "Email" field. I've read SOGo is designed to do the
former, but I've got a slew of entries that followed the latter case.
4. Some contacts have stray backslashes in various fields (mainly
address, but I've found them in other fields). Looking at the entry in
Roundcube, I don't see any backslashes.
5. Changes made on the Thunderbird side show as No Changes when doing a
sync. However, when I look in Kolab, I see the changes WERE synced.
It would seem to me that if the SOGo connector would allow field
mapping, it might take care of some of these cases. Don't know where
the backslashes are coming from, though.
My question is whether or not there is a better solution for CARDDAV in
Thunderbird with Kolab. It actually surprises me that Thunderbird
doesn't support CARDDAV natively.
