I'm note sure if this will help your particular situation, but I find
having an actual LDAP editor like phpLDAPadmin really helps where the
kolba-webadmin is laking in features. I find myself using phpLDAPadmin
to add users to custom groups for ownCloud, changing users' UIDs,
updating passwords, and fixing spelling mistakes in usernames. Also, a
basic understanding for LDAP helps.
