Hi,
i tested the 3.0 stuff on debian wheezy x86_64.
First of all, is 3.0 alpha working on debian ? (for testing)

My report so far (i got stuck with cyrus-imap auxprop and the right digest)

I installed the packages as mentioned in the manual.
The first problem: https://issues.kolab.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1052
I applied the patch and began (got save the snapshotting feature)
So it kept on installing but the next bug appeared.
Files i patched on my own:
/usr/share/pyshared/pykolab/setup/setup_mta.py,setup_imap.py, setup_php,py.
The references were wrong for debian (/etc/amavis instead of amavisd,
kolab-server instead of kolabd and so on).
At the php setup, debian don't provide /etc/php.ini. So i symlinked
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini.
The next problem was dirsrv. It started but stopped during the install
process with the error "already running" which was no true.
So i started dirsrv during the install phase. (Most likely a ipv6
incompatibility; i disabled ipv6 and in worked)
After stat hours of debugging, i got kolab 3.0 running but:

1.) the init scripts are wrong (i patched apache2,
cyrus-imapd,kolab-sasauthd)
2.) Some packages are not in the dependency tree (e.g. kolab-telemetry
-> kolab cli)
3.) ptload is used but not in the cyrus-imapd package. (repackaged with
--with-ldap --with-auth-pts)
4.) The mentioned example policy file (referenced in the manual) cannot
be found. (How to disable email policy running debian ?)
5.) the ns slapd webadmin interface segfaults on starting apache2.worker
(Also debugged; on loading the custom moduls)

Where i got stuck:

All passwords in the ldap tree are SSHA hashed. So, cyurs ldapdb plugin
must use DIGEST-MD5 or GSSAPI Auth.
So right now, DIGEST-MD5 with ns-slapd will not work when using SSHA, so
i try to setup GSSAPI with a local KDC server.
ldapsearchoutput: Bind Error: additional info: sasl mechanism not supported

What works right now:
Login in the webinterface.
Create a user

Not working: kolab cli (ldap problem)
Mailbox creation

Perhaps some member has more info,
optional i can give access for testing purposes to the core development team
Also i can assist in building working init script in debian packages.

Rgds.

Franz
