I believe amavisd (by default) logs on quite a verbose level. Perhaps 
you want to decrease its verbosity in /etc/amavisd/amavisd.conf.

I think you may be running in to 
https://issues.kolab.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1469 as far as the messages not 
arriving is concerned.

Please see if

is a temporary workaround that works for you.
