The simplest way is using the ctl_cyrusdb utility:

/path/to/ctl_cyrusdb /path/to/annotations.db skiplist /path/to/backup.db flat

Restoring is then performed using:

/path/to/ctl_cyrusdb /path/to/backup.db flat /path/to/annotations.db skiplist
