Automatic Email Server Settings

Hey I allways wondered how they do it but I think it's just a database in the 
email client which gets the information based on the email-adress. For example 
when you enter your email adress:
johndoe at msn.com
the client knows that its an msn account and adds all the server information 
automaticly.

With other words no way your kolab server will ever be added :(

Please correct me if I am wrong because I don't really know for sure, but I 
think this is how it's done.
