That is a good point that I didn't even consider. The KMail window must have
been opened separately when I clicked the tray icon, since I only use the
kontact.app file to open Kontact. Sounds to me like the actions from
clicking the tray icon should ideally be adjusted.

We had a few known issues with the reminders which will be fixed with a more

No, I didn't get any reminders, but be aware that I only tested this issue
briefly as it was towards the end of my week-end period with Steve Jobs.
