Problem sending via tsl with Kontact e35 packages?

That's correct.

libsasl2-modules is also installed and according to the package 
description that's all you should need.

Except for a library mismatch I have no ideas.

What does using "Check what the server supports" (in the settings of the 
SMTP account) yield?
