There should be a page in the Kolab webadmin listing the versions of
the central Kolab server packages. For older Kolab server versions
these might not directly match the actual Kolab server version but it
helps to identify the exact version.

If it is a <2.1 release it might actually also try to use the users
password which should be stored in encrypted form in the users LDAP
entry. But I'm not certain which Kolab server versions actually
supported that scheme.

problem. You should probably just try to reset the users password in
the Kolab webadmin.
