... including me,

Just upgraded my Fedora Core 3 to Fedore Core 4, which includes KDE 3.4.1
and Kontact 1.1.1. The "Kolab Wizard" is there, the "kolab"-resource
isn't...

Does any linux distro support this functionality yet by default (Debian? -
sarge or etch?).

Onderwerp: Clarification of what needs to be done to make kdepim from
KDE3.4.1 fully functionial with Kolab2

I'm setting up Kolab2 for a mixed Windows/Linux/Solaris environment, and so
far everything seems to be working from the Kolab end, and I've got
connectivity working with Outlook 2003 via Toltec2 pretty well, after a few
false starts.

I want to get Kontact working with it as well, but I don't seem to have the
"Kolab" resource that I am supposed to select in KDE resources
configuration in KDE Control Centre as mentioned in the Proko2 Doc2 document
(latest version from cvs). I'm using KDE 3.4 built for Solaris9 (from
contrib on
kde.org) and have upgraded my RedHat EL3 workstations with the latest KDE
from http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/ (ver 3.4.1).

I have seen a kdepim-3.3.proko2.0.rc3.tar, that seems to be the full package
that I would need to build, but some mail messages suggest that 3.4.1 is the
way to go, since some issues with LDAP have been fixed in it.

I have seen messages that suggest the "checkout_proko2.sh" script is needed
but in what capacity?

Proko2 Doc2 gives building instructions for kdepim (suggesting a requirement
of "Qt 3.2.3 or a more recent version, as well as KDE 3.2") and suggest
using the latest released KDE tarballs (which would be 3.4.1), but as I have
mentioned above, both of the prebuilt KDE packages I am using don't have the
Kolab resource to choose from in the KDE Control Panel.

As a typically over worked IT support person, I try to use prebuilt packages
where ever possible, but don't mind building things from scratch when
required. I am a pretty techical "implementor", so a lot of this stuff is
within my abilities, but it would be very very helpful to everyone if some
things were explained more clearly. I've spent a lot of time over the last
few weeks eeking out the details to get this far. To make Kolab popular,
more practical/complete instructions need to be written(I don't mind
helping, but Im sure someone could fill in the gaps of my knowledge).

SO, What do I need to do to get kdepim 3.4 or 3.4.1 fully enabled for
Kolab2?

Do I need to build kdepim 3.4.1 with extra components that are downloaded
with the checkout_proko2.sh script?

Filling in the gaps will help everyone..
Thanks
JD
