Distribution List Slows server problem...

Ok.. so rather than just forwarding the message to everyone
on the list through some sort of recipient map it actually
runs a PHP script...?
I've approached this in two ways in the past with
implementations of postfix/cyrus/ldap,
- Added the distlist address as an alias to all that
should receive the message.
- or -
- Created a mailbox that had multiple maildrop ldap entries
one for each in the "dist list"
Both the above did not involve an external script, such as
the "Kolabmailboxfilter", and were *very* fast.
