How clients should deal with other revisions of the format spec (remains to be discussed)

This is just a reminder that it is an open discussion point
what clients should do if they encounter unknown values
or format revision number they do not understand or support.

The reminder was triggered by  kolab/issue3766 (Kontact shows unknown Kolab 
XML event attendee status values as "Accepted")  and the discussion going on 
their what to do with an object not compatible with the format spec.

As the format progresses this will become more and more an issue.
Kontact itself does not full provisions to actually detect bad format in many 
cases. This can be a good or bad thing. ..
