As an aside, the ./autogen.sh isn't really intended to replace normal, 
regular build procedures for your distribution - it is more of an aid 
for developers to show how stuff is being built (with what parameters), 
as the source code contains logic to detect other libraries, potentially 
uses RPATH, and such things.
