dl() is a standard PHP function
(http://pl1.php.net/manual/en/function.dl.php) which indeed might be
disabled or not-existing in some installations. However, if you check
the code it is called only when specified extension is not loaded. So,
a solution would be to load required extensions in php config using
extension directive.
