[Kolab-devel] [issue3346] Cannot delete folders in shared accounts using Toltec connector

New submission from Albrecht Dreß <albrecht.dress at lios-tech.com>:

If a common account (like "support" or "info") is used by several users, it is
impossible to erase folders using Outlook and the Toltec connector. This
happens with different Outlook versions (from 2002 to 2007) and Toltec 2.3.1.

How to reproduce this bug:

(1) Create a Kolab account like "info" or "support".

(2) Map this account through the Toltec Connector for more than one user.

(3) User 1 now creates a mail folder like "New Folder" and syncs to Kolab/Cyrus.

(4) User 2 opens Outlook. The "New Folder" is now visible.

(5) Now one user erases this folder and syncs to Cyrus. If any *other* Outlook
user also syncs, instead of also erasing the folder locally, it gets sync'ed
back to Cyrus from the local Outlook/Toltec message store (pst).

(6) If the user who originally erased the folder connects (or syncs) again, the
folder is synced back from Cyrus.

In short, this makes it impossible to erase folders on the server in such a
setup. The Toltec support came up with the "solution"

<quote>
You need to delete the folder on both PSTs in the same synchronization slice. If
Toltec detects a folder in a PST and cannot find it on the server it will upload
the folder.
</quote>

This is of course not a solution if e.g. for a "support" account ~8 people are
involved who are located in different places, have different working hours, etc.
- I cannot organise a "folder erase party" regularly just to make erasing
folders work. As a side note, it is of course possible to erase /messages/ on
the server which are /not/ sync'ed back by Toltec. This behaviour is really
unlogical.

Possible fixes for Toltec might be:
- Treat folders like messages, i.e. delete them locally if they were erased on
the server;
- If Toltec detects a folder locally, but not on the server, display a dialogue
asking if the folder should be erased locally or copied back to server.
