Look at an xpfb which has appointments with Umlauts 
in the subject. They are not shown correctly. 
The apache header gives out latin-1, but 
the umlauts of the appointments are encoded in utf-8. 
(Note that just changing the encoding header for apache 
will not work as the umlauts in the translated text 
are indeed latin-1.)
