We agree on that this is an extra strep,
but how huge that burden is and how modern webserver security
depends on it, it debatable in the special situation.

There are a few goals colliding.
I guess that if we do several betas and releases,
we will keep the same packages for them.
Thus, if we want to make it easiest for the user to get
all packages of a realease from one directory,
we would fast end up with a server with 80% of the size
being double packages. Mirrors don't like this, if we go into
the gibibyte sections.
The alternatives to this are: Using symlinks, releasing less
often or making it harder for the users.
Thus I prefer the symlink little extra burden on webservers.
