Z-Push slow to sync?

I use z-push with my iPhone daily. I have it set up like Alain says - calendars and contacts only. I use iPhone's IMAP client for my email and z-push just to keep my calendar and contacts sync'd up. I also experienced the battery drain Alain was referring to. If you have it set to push, it seems to ping out to the mail server every few seconds continually. My IT department notified me that my phone was continually opening Apache processes. I changed it from push to automatic and have not had a single bit of trouble since. In fact, I changed my contacts to manual sync because there really was no need to have them automatically updated. I have over 350 events on my calendar and it updates every 15 minutes. I have no performance problems with either z-push or my phone - unless my phone network is poor.

Thanks,

Hello
The push is available but take more energy consomption
because the phone send each 5 seconds a frame by the
3G or Edge to the server. In case of lot of mobile that
can overload the server too
The iphone read the server each time that you enter in
the contact application or contact application and make
a synchronization.
Due to the lack of Zpush (no html for mails ) we use generaly
the Imap client in the iphone and Exchange sync for contact and
calendars with a scheduled time (1/4 hour). I think it is the best
compromise between datas and power consomption.
Be carefull with horde it caches the datas (contacts and calendar)
and the modifications made on the phone will be seen when you logout
and login.
You can verify for the delay when the mail arrive in the folder (calendar/contact)
with a standard imap client (thunderbird) and you will see that the delay is extremly
short (if you have a good network cover)

Now i use a Android 2.3 (galaxy sII) and work well (the configuration is a little more
hard than the iphone)

For the version of the backend you must be at the 0.7.5

Objet: Z-Push slow to sync?

Hey;

I am currently testing Kolab with z-push - I have noticed there's
quite a delay between emails arriving in webmail and arriving to my
iPhone - also calendar and contact updates take a long time to update.

It would almost appear the iPhone thinks 'push' isn't available so
reverts to 'schedule'

I haven't had a chance to test this on an android as yet, but I will
later on tonight.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

Fraser
