amavisd fails to start, missing perl-modules "Can't locate auto/Mail/Internet/autosplit.ix"

hi thomas,
i started from scratch several times following exact the 1st.readme and used 
the provided sarge RPMs, as well as compiled from source. i checked the 
actual beta bin. sarge RPMs as well, with slightly worse results.
i even did a new server (vserver) install with the same results.

??? 

any further hints
