All Kolab clients should have been and should be writing out a mime structure 
where the Kolab XML object UID is also the subject[1,2], with the specific 
purpose of enabling clients to perform searches for specific objects.

In Kolab Groupware up to and including version 2.4, the webmail client 
(whether Horde or Roundcube) used the Horde stack, as of Kolab 3.0 with 
Roundcube, a thin wrapper around libkolabxml/libkolab performs this task.
