I did some more research. In
http://lists.kolab.org/pipermail/users/2014-November/018310.html there
is a reference to http://docs.kolab.org/howtos/freeipa-integration.html,
but that page doesn't exist for me. Is there a copy somewhere? The
wayback machine doesn't have a copy as well as
https://git.kolab.org/diffusion/D/browse/master/source/howtos/ 

I found the phabricator task https://git.kolab.org/T468 and
https://git.kolab.org/T466. 

I'd be happy to test and give feedback, but right now I's not sure how
to start (except copying 99kolab2.ldif to freeIPA server).
