Chwala local file system backend?

I remember reading an old email that said someone was working on a
webdav backend, but what I really want is a local file system backend.
That way I can use Syncthing for all my syncing needs. I would like to
avoid using seafile as it doesn't just store files on the disk in an
easily accessible manner. 

I would make my own, but I am still fairly new to PHP and would like to
avoid the inevitable frustrations involved if entirely possible
