I done that on slackware ; when compliling kdepim-runtime it will detect if 
libkolabxml is present in your system. In my case i compiled the vanilla 
package ( that's slackware :) ) if the package maintainer had done some 
changes here you need to check. Try with vanilla package first ; you will see a 
mesage after configure.
