How to get chwala functioning

Debian 7 x86_64 
Kolab 3.3
Fresh install
Icons in Roundcube=> files are greyed out and cannot login through domaincom/chwala ‘internal server error’

chwala error shows 'PHP Error: Login failed. Unable to decode response (POST)’
Which appears to be faulty code, but where?

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?
