on Debian ldapsearch is only available if you install the open
ldap-utils from openldap.

But the 389-ds ships with /usr/lib/mozldap/[ldapsearch|ldapmodify]. Just
replace ldapsearch with /usr/lib/mozldap/ldapsearch
