How to upgrade from 3.1. to 3.2

What is the intended method for upgrading from 3.1 to 3.2 on a Centos 
6.5 system.

I have tried changing the the yum repo config to point at the 3.2 repoes 
and doing a yum update.

The package update works, but I had to restore the system back to 3.1 as 
it was completely unusable from a performance perspective to the point 
that Roundcube was timimg out.
