Recommended setup for splitting MTA and IMAP

Hi all,

I've been playing with a setup of Kolab3 on AWS that I plan to use and
potentially make available to others later.

So far I've bee greatly pleased with the information available but I am
having difficulty finding a good guide on how to deploy individual services
split over multiple servers.

I was able to split postfix and cyrus and after a couple of hours tinkering
with sasl and lmtp but I was wondering if there is any recommended setup or
guide I could follow. Any tips?
