Thanks, Michael, for this post. 

I'm wondering just the same. It is mandatory to support a sensible top implementation for systems as kolab. Imagine checking for new messages abroad or on a public place or internet cafe or otherwise not-owned-by-yourself access point.

BTW @list: on recent debian, it seems some kolab packages depend on perl 5.4 thus breaking the kolab install path as on a recent Debian perl 5.18 is exclusively available.
