How to connect an IMAP client to Kolab 3

Hi, 

I would have thought this would have been very trivial, but
after quite some time trying and researching, I can't get Thunderbird
connected via IMAP to the Kolab 3 server. 

The default username is: 


	* first.last at example.tld

What is the actual login name that I need to
use for an IMAP client though? 

I've tried variations of first.last,
first.last at example.tld, flast, flast at example.tld. Nothing works, just
keeps saying my username or password is wrong. 

Please advise how we
can find out what the IMAP username is to login with.
