Issues after changing uid status

I'm not sure if it's related, but since changing the uid field to
being read/write in webadmin I appear to have grown several issues.
Biggest one is the apparent inability to send e-mail:

SMTP Error: [554] 5.7.1 <DATA>: Data command rejected: Could not find
envelope sender user foo at bar.net

I've tried restarting the services but that didn't work, so I took the
extreme measure of rebooting the actual server. No new mail is showing
up either in roundcube, and I can't change user quotas. Also I'm not
able to add additional secondary e-mail addresses.

Anyone with clues as to how to better debug why all of a sudden my
Kolab instance seems to have a nasty cold?
