I can confirm that Kolab does work with php 5.4 I am running it on a Debian
Wheezy system, with no php problem...
(PHP version 5.4.4-14)

I think the problem is you've installed the remi repo on your system and the
kolab meta package is pulling the wrong versions of PHP. It should be
installing php 5.3 however the remi repo has version 5.4. Either you need
to remove the remi repo or adjust your yum priorities so that it is not used
over the Kolab repos (and possibly the EPEL and CentOS)
I'm not sure if Kolab can run under php 5.4 since I haven't tried it yet :).
