My recent woes were caused by z-push's debug.txt becomming to big ... 
deleting it fixed connectivity.

Now my first sync (following your lead) worked, yet subsequent ones keep 
failing.

Have you ever tried syncing with multiple calendars/address book? Maybe 
that's killing me?
