Failed upgrade 2.2.4 to 2.3

I have successfully upgraded from 2.2.4 to 2.3.1 on my test machine, but 
have failed early on in my production machine (os Opensuse 11.3) Both 
machines have the same spec and OS. The upgrade logs from the two 
machines appear to be the same up to the point of failure.

Failure happens during the Build GNU gzip phase:

Previous contents were moved to /kolab/RPM/PKG.19436.10200.30685.16108

The various errno.h files all appear to be in place.
