I somehow neglected:

7. Reconstruct the mail spool:

	sudo -u kolab-r /kolab/bin/cyrreconstruct -C /kolab/etc/imapd/imapd.conf /kolab/var/imapd/spool/domain/n/newdom.com/

which is almost certainly worth doing before restarting kolab.
