Please scratch that. My educated guess for PHP/IMP's memory needs didn't
match its actual consumption. ;-)
php.ini.template:
memory_limit = 128M ; was at 64M.
Symptoms vanished afterwards.
I'd suggest putting a healthy 96M there when first rolled out.
