This is strange because the OpenPKG package has not changed between 2.2.4 and 
2.3.4. Did you try 2.2.4 recently or was the host somehow changed in the 
meantime?

To me this looks like this is a 64bit system, right? OpenPKG itself is 32 bit 
and you need to have the necessary libs to compile 32 bit. In 
Fedora/RHEL/CentOS you need to install glibc.i686 and in Debian/Ubuntu it's 
ia32-libs. I guess there should be a similar package for Slackware.
