The other alternative is to enable compatibility mode.

The only problem with doing this is that it doesn't have the top bar on the
right side

Assuming you use IE 8.0 or something even more broken, try forcing IE 7
compatibility mode by adding to httpd.conf somewhere;

    <IfModule mod_headers.c>
        Header set X-UA-Compatible "IE=EmulateIE7"
    </IfModule>
