Kolab, kontact and many, many (shared) folders

Hi,

I am currently setting up a Kolab-Server and am wondering about
skalability regarding number of (shared) folders. One problem I see is
KMail, which writes its config file each and every time anything folder-
related changes (like deleting a mail), which takes noticable time when
it happens over NFS.

How do people deal with this and other issues? Is anyone actually using
large ammounts of folders and could share their experience?
