Upgrade from 2.2-Beta3 to Current Version

Hello

I'm currently working with a 2.2-Beta 3 and would like to upgrade it to the 
current release candidate. After reading the available docs I'm already not 
sure how this should exactly go. Can I just download the new files and run a 
compile and install or is there an additional procedure to make (backup files 
etc.)?
