Toltec and domain versus IP

My first suspicion is that it is a DNS problem.
You say you can 'telnet mail.mydomaincom.com' from the machine itself.  
Can you 'ping mail.mydomaincom.com' from the other box?  Can you 'telnet 
mail.mydomaincom.com' from the other box?
