The openpkg folks have already produced a new src RPM, so you might want
to give that a try.  It's available from
ftp://ftp.openpkg.org/current/SRC/.
You have to register first, though.  How to register and how you can
access their ftp space afterwards is described in
http://registry.openpkg.org/help
