I know that this is an Outlook weakness to be able to only handle
one main calendar. I would guess that this is the same for exchange
as well, but I also do not have an Exchange at hand to test this.

Some people try to work around this Outlook limitation by
using automatic resources handling that will accept and register the replies
automatically for a group of people.

Group and resource accounts give the internal "calender" users
the permission to read and write the main calendar folder so that
automatic handling of events can work. This can be used to book resources,
if set to accept when not conflict.

Group and resource do not have more significant differences.
