FreeBSD is an excellent choice for kolab, just make sure you create a /kolab 
or symlink /usr/kolab to /kolab that is the normal thing for most to forget 
when using kolab on FBSD.

Other than that it is very straight forward although not supported yet on FBSD 
- AMD64 but thats a openpkg limitation and is on the roadmap
