the only entry in /etc/hosts is the 127.0.0.1 localhost
As for DNS I setup fedora to use our internal DNS server and if that fails to use a public one.

I'm still working to find the right kolabfilter file to add echo statements to but so far I have worked my back from the Socket.php file and the $addr field is always localhost... but I learned one thing... I forgot a ; at the end of one of the echo statements and it caused kolab to bounce every single message I had sent (and they all bounced back to the senders...  my kolab inbox has 52 undeliverable message replys, as well as the internet addresses I sent them from)  So I do know something is working right...
