openldap does not start properly

My standard approach is:
a) Double check that
    a.1 no other ldap service is running
    a.2 no firewall is in place
b) Check the openldap log.
c) Run slapd manually with the -d switch to get better error output.
   See /kolab/bin/openpkg man slapd.conf for the loglevels.
