For example, to retrieve the KDE_3_3_BRANCH from anonymous CVS you can do:

export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous at anoncvs.kde.org:/home/kde
cvs login
cvs -z4 co -r KDE_3_3_BRANCH kdepim
